With a career in commercial lending, I have assisted many entrepreneurs to
achieve business success. Their success has been determined by their
dedication, vision, and by the nature of the social and cultural values of
the communities in which they operate. As lenders, we must constantly
balance economic development with our community values so that our
communities’ remains vibrant and our businesses prosper.
Business success has always been challenging. Today’s challenges include the
availability of affordable workforce housing, a qualified labor pool,
increasingly threatened natural resources, increasing energy and
transportation costs, a global economy, and access to affordable growth
capital.

Cape & Islands Community Development, Inc., the parent company of Coastal

in 1995, we have provided millions of lending dollars to Massachusetts

Our Board of Directors is very active and stable; most have been successful
entrepreneurs themselves. Our Loan Committee is also very active and stable,
with over 150 years of community involvement and lending expertise among
them. This Committee guides our lending decisions and I credit them and our
board with our "zero" loss rate.
As we continue to raise the capital required to meet growing loan demand and
service our expanded service area, we will continue to develop lending
partnerships to service our business entrepreneurs so that we can fulfill
our mission.
